Deviation Assessment and Response Training is a brand new CalEMA

State sponsored course by FEMA/DHS. The one day, (8hr) or half-day, (4hr), course is aimed at law enforcement, security personnel, EMTs, firefighters, pubic safety personnel and anyone who regularly patrols and works in public gathering areas such as all rail and bus locations, and major passenger areas, small and large airports, churches, synagogues, places of worship or religious buildings, hospitals, schools, malls, casinos, landmarks, banks, financial buildings, military buildings or other places that could be considered terrorist targets in the U.S. or abroad.

The DART Protocol was created as a joint effort between the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) and the Los Angles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) using the best practices and proven methods and techniques of a collection of experts such as the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit, the DEA, the British Transport Police's H.O.T. Protocol and Israeli Intelligent expert, Rafi Ron who was commissioned to secure Logan Airport and train their security after 9/11, Ed Geiselman Ph.D. Psychology, known for behavioral recognition indicators, LASD-JRIC, LASD-Transit Systems Bureau and others.

DART is presented in a easy to understand, step-by-step protocol, to recognize signs of surveillance, planning and execution of terrorist activity in your patrol/work areas and how to safely respond. You will learn how to raise your awareness of suspicious activity and the "fingerprints" of terrorist performing surveillance in your area.
